My memories of Uncle John & spending time with him, even though they weren't many, will always stay with me.
As a young kid at school I always got a kick out of telling my friends that my Uncle lived in Chicago.
Whenever John visited us in Dagenham, Canadian Club in hand, he & my Mum & Uncle Martin would talk & reminisce for hours. But most of all they'd laugh!
When I twice played in a soccer tournament held in Dallas Texas, John was able to fly down from Chicago to see the games, & I know this time my Mum, Dad & Uncle Martin spent with him in Dallas was very special to them.
I loved hearing the stories of West Ham players ( a team I also follow of course) staying (& socialising) with Uncle John & his friends whilst on tour in Chicago in the early 1960's. The photo of John with Bobby Moore is pride of place at my Mums house.
God Bless You Uncle John & deepest sympathies to John, Jeanne & all the family.

John Rochford when he was at the top of his game was easy to smile, always had a hands on greeting and was a true gentleman. He was bigger than life itself and lent a helping hand to many. He was especially caring about my Mom & Dad, John & Helen Ryan. And welcoming to the whole Ryan clan. The Big Guy is at peace and I'm sure Margaret P. was overjoyed to see him. The family has our deepest sympathy. Bill and Mary Ellen Sheehan
