John R. Powers, age 69, passed away Jan. 11, 2022. Retired from the Chicago Sun Times. Army Veteran, Co B 1st Bn 67th Arm, 2nd Armored Div. Beloved husband of Sharon (nee Sheehan). Loving father of Bridget (Greg) Hicks, Mike, David, and Katie Powers. Proud grandfather of Wanda Hicks. Dear brother of James (Mary Kay) Powers, Mary Ann (Richard) Proney, Jane (Dennis) Blankenship and the late Jean (Bill) Mulvihill. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Funeral Friday, Jan. 21st 9:00 am from Donnellan Funeral Home 10525 S. Western Ave, Chicago to St. Barnabas Church 10134 S. Longwood Dr. for Mass 10:00 am. Int. Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Visitation Thursday 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Edna White Garden c/o the BAPA 1744 W. 99th Street Chicago, IL 60643.
