John Myasaki Obituary

Miyasaki, John Kenji 94, died unexpectedly on October 4, 2018¸ at Weiss Memorial Hospital. He was born on October 16, 1923, in Los Angeles, son of Shinzo and Mitsue Miyasaki. John and his family experienced the injustice of the Heart Mountain Concentration Camp during World War II. After resettled in Chicago, with John's determination, he earned both Bachelor's degree of Electrical Engineering in 1954, and Master's degree of Electrical Engineering in 1958 from Illinois Institute of Technology. He worked for 26 years as Staff Engineer at the O'Hare regional office and retired from the FAA in 1998. John was a certified flight instructor and a senior member of Masonic Society. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his brother James, his sisters Mary and Kazu, surviving in addition to his sister Aki, nephews Paul and David, niece Helen. A graveside service of remembrance will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Graceland Cemetery, 4001 N. Clark St., Chicago, IL. Those who wish to remember John in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the Japanese Mutual Aid Society, 4427 N. Clark St., Chicago, IL 60640.
