I will never forget you papa John. i love you.

I still think of you everyday daddy! Always will. I love you...

I haven't seen you in 35 years and then I see your picture in the paper and could not believe what I was reading. Your loving family and friends will always miss you and your star will always shine brightly to watch over them.

Dear Linda and the entire Mercer Family -- I am so sorry for your loss. John always impressed me as a very loving and thoughtful man. I know he took great pride in his family. My best to you all.

To the Mercer Family,

I'm truly sorry to hear about your father's passing. I met John while working at Area 5. What a wonderfully happy person he was. He could make anyone laugh. I know you'll miss him tremendously.

I have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love for my father. Family, friends, CPD supervisors and colleagues sharing experiences and stories was touching.

The warmth and charisma my father shared will be cherished for years to come.

The saddest part is for all those who did not know him, you have been greatly deprived.

John and Tony worked together in pressrooms for many years that began when they were teen agers. He was witty, quick to smile, had great stories and was always there to help. He was a wonderful friend and a joy to be around. We will miss him. God speed Johnny.

John was an all around good guy. My sympathy goes out to his family and dearest friends.

I first met Johnny through Dennis Shallbetter. A fun-loving gentleman who always appreciated his life, his friends and loved ones. My condolences to the Mercer family. May God take John to His side.

John will always make me smile when I think of him. He was one of the best story tellers imaginable!! He was always welcoming, and the most nurturing male I have ever known...he will be deeply missed and I will keep in touch with the family and send my love to you all..

Dear, PaPa John you never got to see me play in one of my games, but I guess now you can see every thing I do. So I will be on my toes and do the best that I can because I know you will be watching.
