Sorry for your loss. John was a great friend. We went to grammar school and high school together. Buddies and pals. Still friends through college. Then,as they say, life got in the way. We will say a prayer for your family. Stay strong.

To John's family:
John worked in the Tribune business section around the time I started working for the paper, and I remember him as a kind man. I'm so sorry to hear about his death. Please remember that there are Tribune colleagues who care.
Sincerely,

John and I worked for many years together at Chicago Today and the Tribune. Although we were never very close friends, we were colleagues who deeply respected each other and the other's journalist instincts. I will miss him. He is now with our God.
