John you were the best, as a boss and a friend. You always took care of business. Rest in Peace

He was a man I would have followed anywhere, a great leader and is missed.

Having a beer on the eve of St Paddy's Day, John's holiday...thought of him after all these years...miss ya' John

Although many years have passed, the loving memory of John has not diminished.
He was truly, "The Best of CHICAGO."

Today I am reminded of John's passing. He was a good man that I had the pleasure to know from the CPD and the USAF. His passing is felt and he is not forgotten.

I just reading the FOP news letter and learned of John's passing. He was a great guy and I was glad to call him a friend.

John was one of the finest Police Officers I ever served with-bar none. He was a gentleman and a great friend. We will meet again at the only Roll Call that really counts

Had the pleasure of working next to John while we were stationed together in Warner Robins, GA. We
talked about a lot of things during the short time we spent together and I was pleased to have met him and talk about life in general. May John rest in peace and may your family be in peace during this difficult time.

Prayers to the family. I knew Colonel Loughnane when I was a reservist at GMIAP, Milwaukee. He was truly a unique individual to work for.

I have fond memories of Lt. Col Loughnane. He never would ask of his troops to do something that he would not do himself. He was a fine example of a true leader. Tonight I will toast a good cop to his favorite drink. He will be missed and my thoughts and prayers go out to his family. I thank him for the opportunity that he gave me. I do not think I would be where I am at if it would not be for people like John Loughnane.

I am so sorry for your lost. I have known John as a Police Officer and Reservist. He helped start our Great Lakes Chapter/Security Police Association. He will be missed by many in both professional fields. Thanks for sharing John with us. God Bless

Our most heartfelt condolences to the Loughnane family. No better friend, colleague or comrade-in-arms could you have than John Loughnane. We paralleled each other in much of our Air Force careers in Security Forces from NCOs to commanders. I had the greatest respect for John's tenacity in war skills, and yet tempered by that wonderful sense of wry Irish levity. My deepest condolences to the Loughnane family. I had the honor and pleasure to work on John's squad 3 in Gangs North, he will for sorely missed at the monthly dinners at Lazo's.

Ms. Olivo, Catherine, and Valerie, I saw John's death notice and thought of you guys. We had a lot of fun in the Guerin days. I retired from the CPD in 2011 but never had the pleasure of meeting John. Still, from these entries, it seems he was loved and respected by many. Please accept our condolences on your loss.

My sincerest condolences to the Loughnane family. I had the utter pleasure of serving under John in the old Gang Crimes Unit and in SOS....he was a man that led by example and was one of the men that I most tried to emulate when I was lucky enough to be promoted.

One of my fondest memories was being in downpouring rain in Texas and trying to fill sand bags with mud. This went on for a while. When I looked up, Lt.Col Loughnane was holding the sand bag. He never forgot where he came from. God Speed
