John Lonergan Obituary

Lonergan, John Patrick 84, passed away peacefully Monday, May 18, 2015. Beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, he leaves behind his loving wife of 57 years, Diana (Muller) Lonergan; his sons, James, Robert (Katherine) and Brian (Barbara); his daughter, Therese Lewand (Joseph); grandchildren, JR, Andrew, Sarah, Aubrey, Kevin, Thomas, Hannah, Ryan and Jack; sisters, Darlene Besancon and Mary Yerke, along with additional loving family and many close friends. Born and raised in Chicago, IL, the son of John and Margaret (Kelly) Lonergan, he was a resident of Grayslake, IL, and for many years, his beloved San Diego, CA. After graduating from Carl Schurz High School in 1948, he attended Wright College and was a Korean War Veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force. During a 35 year career at the Chicago Sun-Times, retiring as National Advertising Director, he not only took pride in his business, but truly relished the lifelong friendships he made at the newspaper. May God shine His everlasting and eternal light upon John Patrick and welcome him home to the awaiting arms of our Savior Jesus Christ. We love you, miss you and will hold you close in our hearts. A viewing will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 21, 2015 in the vestibule of St. Mary's of the Annunciation Catholic Church, 22333 W.
