To the family and friends of John Haskins. I knew John as an legal opponent while he was an Assistant State's Attorney. Although we fought many a battle, I always felt that in the end we were friends. The last time I saw him was at the courthouse in Markham and I was happy to see that he was defending a client on a post conviction matter. John had a sharrp mind and a sharper wit. May God comfort you during your time of bereavment.

Dear Neddie, Brothers & Sisters,
I vividly remember Jumper from high school days on the South Side. He was always ready for fun and good times.
Wish I could be there to repay your kindness when you were present for Alison's burial of her mother Marian Gatti. Eddie, my dad, and I lovingingly remember your mother as well. Blessings from one of your second cousins.

John was the first state's attorney I faced when I was assigned to the post conviction division of the public defender's office five years ago. He was extremely helpful to me, explaining courtroom procedures to me in an area of practice that I had never engaged in before. He will be missed.

Dearest Paul and Joan,
The phrase 'thinking of you' sounds so trite, but know that I am thinking of you and praying for your broken hearts.

Dear Ned
I'm sorry to hear of John's passing. My sympathy to all of your brothers and sisters and to Elizabeth. Unfortunately I am in Florida and will be unable to attend the services. When I think of John I remeber the "Courts" and the learning experiences we all went thru with him.

My condolences to the Haskins family on their loss of John Haskins. Athough I now live in Jacksonville Florida and don't get up to Chicago much, I appreciated seeing Dan, and I think Ned, when my mother (Mary Haskins Jacobs) passed away in October 2005. Coincidentally, my son John (age 23) is named John Haskins Jacobs. We knew a good name when we saw one. Also, your father, Uncle Bob, was my sponsor at my catholic confirmation in River Forest--no doubt, my mother did a good job of roping him into it. I'm sure I was named after Uncle Bob as well. I wish I could see the Haskins family at this time of your loss but know that I am thinking of you and praying for your family.
