John Ellis Obituary

Ellis, John P.

John P. Ellis, devoted son to Peter and Sophia, loving brother to Chris and Nicholas, beloved uncle to Peter, Nick, Ted, John, Maggie, and Annie, and committed partner of over 50 years to Kathy Flynn, passed away on Saturday, March 30, at 87 years old.

John lived by his own rules, loved his family dearly, and brought amusement and joy to those around him. Today the world is a bit dimmer, a bit quieter, and vastly less interesting without him in it. We can only imagine that our beloved John is writing a musical with Walt Disney, playing dueling piano with Victor Borge, designing the perfect car with Henry Ford, and regaling Marilyn Monroe with funny stories in the afterlife.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, April 7, 2024 from 2-6 P.M. at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home (4727 W. 103rd St., Oak Lawn, IL). A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 8, 2024, 10 A.M. at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church (10301 Kolmar Ave, Oak Lawn, IL). Interment Evergreen Cemetery Evergreen Park, IL

Have a lifetime of happy memories growing up with cousin John. I think of John daily. Will miss him forever.

It appears that my first message did not go through. Due to health and physical limitations, I was not able to attend the services for John. During our first family vacation at Sister's Lake when I was 11 years of age, John gave me one of his cameras, introducing me to the joys of taking photos. Our families vacationed together until I was 22 years of age. John's great love was not only Kathy, but playing the piano, working on his car collections, and spending time at his summer place in Indiana. He was very thoughtful and giving, and enjoyed spending time with Kathy, family and friends.

I just had a delayed reaction of my previous post about vacations my cousin John and I had with our families. I can't view what I wrote it right now, but I might had said that several of our vacations was in Long Beach "Michigan." It actually was Long Beach Indiana. I have photos that I value of John with his parents, Pete and Sophie, his brothers, Chris and Nick, my parents, Tom and Elsie Dangles and my brother Ted. Again, what happy memories. John was so fun loving, as were his brothers.
