John F. "Jack" Durkin Sr.

John Durkin Obituary

Durkin Sr., John F. "Jack" age 78, of Mokena, formerly of Chicago and Tinley Park, passed away October 27, 2006. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving in WWII. A member of St. Mary Church in Mokena, lifetime VFW Post 1400 and American Legion Post #985. Jack is survived by his loving family, his wife Sharon (nee Machtemes) Durkin, children John F. Durkin Jr., Anne C. Durkin, William A. Durkin and Richard J. Durkin, granddaughter Hannah N. Durkin, brother Ed (Judy) Durkin, sister-in-law Kay Durkin, brother-in-law Edmund Buckley and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his late wife Josephine B. Durkin, parents Anthony and Katherine (nee McMahon) Durkin, siblings Patrick Durkin, Mary Hogan and Florence Buckley. Family will receive friends at the Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way (corner of La Grange Rd., south of Lincoln Hwy.), Frankfort, IL 60423, from until p.m. Monday, October 30, 2006. Funeral Service at 9:15 a.m., Tuesday, October 31, 2006, leaving for St. Mary Church for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. In lieu of flowers and mass cards, donations can be made to the Illinois Veterans Home of Manteno, 1 Veterans Dr., Manteno, IL 60950. Info 815-806-2225.
