John Dressen Obituary

Dressen, John Robert returned peacefully to his Creator on August 22, 2003, at the age of 65 years, the devoted son of the late John and dedicated caregiver of his late mother, Florence (nee Janusheske) Dressen and most beloved brother and friend of Mary Ann Sullivan, the loss of his presence will be mourned by his nephews, Mark, Michael (Bilian), Brian (Kristi), Kevin (Michele) and niece, Kathleen, his childhood pals, Robert Mariani and Tad Ukita, good friend, Larry Girten, who assisted him throughout his illness, as well as many former classmates of St. Gregory High School and former co-workers from Marshall Field's where he was employed for over 30 years. The parishioners of his church of worship and his neighbors in Albany Park will surely miss his helping hands. John so enjoyed the visits with his Wisconsin family whom he dearly loved. His great-nieces and nephews, Brianna, Baylee, Sean, Payton, Timothy and Anna Claire will miss the humor and talents of their creative great-uncle. Heartfelt thanks to the staff of Illinois Masonic Hospital and though there were many who gently cared for him, Lisa was his special angel. The kind assistance offered by Vitas Hospice and spiritual comfort of the dedicated religious staff and volunteers was sincerely appreciated. John's wishes were to be cremated and his life celebrated with the Mass of the Resurrection at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 4432 N. Troy, Chicago, IL, on Saturday, September 6th, at 10 a.m. There will be visitation at the church from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. Burial will be private. Memorials may be made in John's name to Our Lady of Mercy Church (773-588-2620), or Masses would be appreciated. Arrangements by: Olson Burke/Sullivan Funeral & Cremation Center, 773-774-3333. "We have loved him dearly during life, let us not abandon him until we have conducted him by our prayers into the house of the Lord".

I only met John once in my role as "minister of care." He was a genuine man who exuded warmth.

I was sad to learn he passed on.

God Bless Him and His Family

John was a very special person. He was always happy, telling jokes. For whatever reason, we clicked together and I feel very lucky to have known him.

Sincerely,

Lisa Hader RN
