My sympathy to the Chico family. I met John through union activity at local 65 and campaigned for him when he ran as a delegate for Illinois Constitutional Convention in 1970.
Throughout his years of work at US Steel South Works, John was one of the foremost leaders of Mexican-American steelworkers. His leadership culminated in his election as President of local 65 of the USWA in 1976.
John recognized the importance of labor unions for improving the lives of working people regardless of their race or nationality.
May he rest in peace.

My deepest sympathy to the Chico Family. John enlightened me about what unions were all about and why they were such a necessity during the 70's and 80's. I will always cherish our times at Local 65, with you as President.. God Bless and Rest in Peace, the Ally Family.
