Veteran US Army, Airborne. BA in Business Management and Personnel from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa, passed away January 26, 2006, after a valiant battle with lung cancer. Cherished husband of 29 years to Carol, cherished son of Beatrice (Milford) Pence of Lomax, IL and George (Kathy) Blackman of Monmouth, IL, dear brother of Charles R. "Rick" Blackman, Jo Dowell, Carla Babcock and Chad Pence. John leaves behind many dear step-siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and employees. Faithful companion of Abigail the Boston Terrier. Memorial services are pending in Chicago and Monmouth. Aunt Carol,
What a joy Uncle John brought to our lives. He was and is a most very special man. He will inspire us everyday...because he is with us and loving us until we can be together again. I love you so very much and so proud of the way you stood by him. Hugs and kisses to you.
