Pamela and family,
My husband and son, Phil and Matt Janicak, and myself extend our love to you all. I met John when I was a parishioner at St. Denis Church. John was very supportive of me after I had marched in Selma when my neighbors became threatening upon learning of that. We had many fine discussions then and later when he worked at St Agatha Church and I worked as a teacher on the West Side. Later, in 1976, we were honored by his officiating at our wedding at Loyola Hospital’s chapel. I will never forget his courage and wonderful sense of humor.

I was privileged to work with John at Pretrial Services. He was a wonderful person, a great supervisor and colleague. He was greatly loved throughout our department. We enjoyed talking about "the old days" in the civil rights movement.
