Johann Lettl Obituary

Johann H. Lettl, 89, of Messenger Street, Plainville, died on Tuesday, January 20, 2004 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro following a brief illness. He was the husband of Gertrude Maria (Brandt) Lettl to whom he was married in June 1948.

Born in Munich, Germany on June 26, 1914, he was a son of the late Franz Q. and Maria (Bachel) Lettl. Raised and educated in Germany, he immigrated to the United States in 1955 settling in the Hyde Park section of Boston for 8 years and later residing in Roslindale for 4 years prior to moving to Mansfield where he lived for many years prior to moving to Plainville almost 2 years ago.

Mr. Lettl was employed as a meat packer for the former Columbia Meat Packing Company in South Boston from 1955 until his retirement in 1979.

He enjoyed driving his vehicle, playing chess, watching television and spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife of 55 years, he leaves: a daughter: Anita M. Sorenson of North Attleboro; three sons: John H. Lettl of Plainville; Reinhard Lettl of Mansfield and Norbert Lettl of Attleboro; a brother: Franz Lettl in Germany and three grandchildren. He was the father of the late Linda Lettl and was predeceased by siblings in Germany.

Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in the New Calvary Cemetery, Boston.

Visitation has been respectfully omitted.
