My sincerest condolences to Joanne's many loved ones. I am a medical student who helped care for Joanne in early December, and it was a coincidence that led me to see her again in the hour after she had passed. With the second encounter, I did not recognize anything about her or her family initially, until a wave of recollection washed over me fifteen minutes into my visit with her. I suddenly remembered her name and illness, but also her cheerful demeanor, sense of humor, and loving family members and friends. Joanne was a wonderful person who touched many lives, including this student's, who helped care for her for just four days. May she rest in eternal peace.

I am Kellie's aunt and have known Joanna for years as one of Kellie's dearest friends. I met your mom at Kel's college graduation party and remember her well. What an upbeat attitude and terrific smile! I was so glad I got to meet her. I'm so sorry for your loss but I'm sure you have many wonderful memories that will keep her alive in your hearts and minds forever. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this difficult time.

I had the privilege of going to both St. Thomas Aquinas and Siena with Joanne; we graduated from both together and "hung out" almost all of the summer of '63 with the same group of friends. It was a wonderful time and Joanne was a big part of the fun. She always had something nice to say to everyone and everyone always had something nice to say about her. We were always happy and it was a terrific time in our lives. I saw her this fall for the first time in years, and, of course, she wanted to talk about how I was doing. I told her she was brave and she smiled. My heart-felt sympathy to all of her family; you are in my thoughts and in my prayers. I will always think of Joanne with great affection.

To the Entire Jones and McGrath Families,

We have suffered a great loss!

Joanne took over the matriarchal position in the family after your two grandmas went to their eternal reward.

Yesterday, two sets of parents along with many loving family members, helped her through the gates of heaven with a beautiful honor guard! This year's heavenly Easter celebration will have another honored guest!

Her big brother, Tom, misses her terribly; but she must have passed along to all of us some of her loving strength as we tried to help her through her courageous battle.

Joanne,

Tom, Marge, Maureen Gail along with their supportive spouses, Colette, Jim and Gil thank you for sharing your amizing life with us!

She was one terrific woman! One who always made her sister-in-law feel like a sister. She modeled how to be a mother with ease and humor! Nothing ever put in her path was something that she couldn't handle! We are amazed with her strength and stamina as she graciously endured many tests of faith.

What an amazing husband she chose! One who 'stepped up to the plate' and assisted her in every way possible with loving tenderness and without a single complaint!

God love you, Chuck!

Her children rallied around her in an unprecedented manner with loving care! Joanna, Tommy, Mike and Danny Boy gave up many evenings out to 'hang with mom' and give her what she needed. They watched her with bittersweet, adoring eyes as she became Michelle's Mother-in-law and the Grandmother of Sean Michael! Her many nieces and nephews tried to help their GREAT AUNT in any way that they could. Her cousins, especially the McGraths, Suchans, Shymaniks, Marrens, O'Connors and O'Neills did everything to try to keep her spirits up; but somehow she helped do that for us!

May God give all of us the strength to adjust to this great loss of one tough lady, who as a nurse, always tried 'to save lives!'

May God someday give us the explanation of how such a giving lady had to endure so much! May we realize the cause and the cure for Cancer in our lifetime!

God bless us, every one!
