Joan Sessions Obituary
May 11, 1930 – December 18, 2023
Joan Sessions, aged 93, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2023, at her home at Plymouth Place in LaGrange Park, Illinois.
Joan's more than 50-year career as an educator was primarily devoted to working in underserved communities, early on in elementary schools. After earning a doctorate, she held executive positions in social service agencies and school reform programs. Her adventurous spirit also led her to Beijing, China for five years, with the United Nations Development Program.
Joan was a loving sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother. Preceded in death by her ex-husband, Frank H. Sessions, she is survived by two daughters, Linda Hadley (John), Gina Sessions Young (Bob), three grandchildren, three great grandchildren; her sister Rosemary Ganis, two nephews and six grand nephews and nieces.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 13 at 1:00 p.m. on the 2 nd floor at Plymouth Place Senior Living Community, 315 North LaGrange Road, LaGrange Park, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Doctors Without Borders or the Art Institute of Chicago.

I had the honor of being a caregiver for Joan for the last four years of her life. She taught me a lot, and was an inspiration to me/women, with all her amazing accomplishments. I'm lucky, honored and blessed to have been a part of her life.
