I remember my mother, Rita O'Loughlin Reed, when she was alive, always had great things to say about her cousins Joan and Mary.

Joan, we were cut from the same cloth - first generation Irish Americans. But I must admit, you did far better with your remnant of Irish heritage. You left a beautiful family who did you very proud today in the sanctioned farewell. There will never be a farewell for those that knew and loved you until our final breath. You gave and received love in abundance, all of your days. For my share I am very grateful. Peace. Until we meet again.

Joan Flynn was the nurse recruiter who hired me at Hines VA Hospital. She was so kind, considerate and helpful.

The McCormick family was blessed to have Tom, Joan and their wonderful children as neighbors on Morgan Street.
Long before chat rooms, our porches became gathering places where lifelong friendships and support brought out the best in all of us.
For all of us who knew Joan, she was a key catalyst who shared her love, commitment and passion for family and friendships.
We all say a prayer today for Joan for having the honor to share a bit of our lives with such a beautiful, kind and caring person.

Joan Flynn.... I imagine 'googling' the phrase 'really, really nice and kind lady'. A picture of Joan would pop up. From my earliest memories of her, she was that kind of a person.
We are sorry for your loss. Those of us who have gone before her, are excited and are welcoming her with open arms. God is good. He is there with her showing her around.
