Fanning, Joan B. (nee Shannon), 78, of Niles, formerly of Edison Park. Beloved wife of the late Brig. Gen. James G. Fanning, C.P.D. retired, loving mother of Patrick S., Dennis J. (Elizabeth) Fanning, Kathleen M. (Craig) Grossman, Eileen M. (John) Loken and Michael G. (Mia) Fanning, loving grandmother of James Michael, Shannon Kathleen, Casey Anne, Sean Patrick, Elizabeth Shannon and James Marvin, dear sister of the late Zita Burchfield and dear aunt to many nieces and nephews. Visitation Thursday, from 2 to 9 p.m. at the M.J. Suerth Funeral Home, 6754 N. Northwestern Hwy., Chicago. Funeral Friday, 9:30 a.m., prayers at the funeral home to St. Juliana Catholic Church (Touhy and Oketo) for 10 a.m. Mass. Interment All Saints Cemetery.
