Joan Butts Obituary

Joan Louise Clausen Butts, 70 of Lynchburg, passed away April 25, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband, whom she wed on November 19, 1982, William F. Butts.

Born August 20, 1942, in Homewood, IL, she was a daughter of the late James H. Clausen and Louise Rinker Clausen. She was also preceded in death by a son, John Lee Codini Jr., who died in 1980.

She graduated in 1960, from Bloom Township High School. She worked with her husband as a chef's assistant in many fine restaurants in New Orleans, where she was famous for her wonderful cheesecakes. She was a member of the First Unitarian Church of Lynchburg.

Survivors include her daughter, Catherine Touna and husband Matt, of Forest; her sister, Alice Damiani, of Chicago Heights, IL; a brother, Jim E. Clausen, of Joliet, IL; and grandson, Brian Touna, of Forest.

A memorial service will be conducted at 6:00 pm on Monday, April 29, 2013, at the First Unitarian Church of Lynchburg, 818 Court St., in Lynchburg, by the Rev. Paul Boothby.

The family will receive friends following the service, for light refreshments, in the fellowship hall, at the church.
