What a loss. Jerry and I worked with each other at World Book and Science year book. Both of us went out on our own; I was the only in-house photographer for World Book and Jerry was an artist. Jerry called me one day and gave me a photo assignment to photograph an Ad for the Sheraton O'Hare Hotel. What a great idea I photographed a jet plane and placed it in a meeting room of the Sheraton Hotel. No photoshop back then; I made the Ad in the darkroom with Jerry looking on so we would get it right. Wonderful working with you my friend and God Bless you.
If his wife is still with use she can look up the Ad that I still have on my web site. I may have other photos with Jerry on location with me. Below is a link to the photo and Ad. I believe about in 1973.

Jerry was a real great guy, a good storry teller and had a keen sense of humor. Once he told me that when he went first to school his teacher told his mother to take him to a special school because he never answers when he is called. The problem was solved swiftly after Jerry was told that his official name is not "Yankaleh" as he was called at home by his Yidish speaking family. I am sorry I did not know him before his employment at Blind Service Association where I am volunteering. I appreciated his kind manners, good work relations and efficiency. I, like everybody else, will miss Yankaleh. May his memory be for a blessing.

I went to Von Steuben with Jerry, or "Skef" as he was known in those days. We also were in the same office building at 200 E Ontario for many years. A terrific guy with a wonderful dry sense of humor. I saw him at the Chicago Humanities Festival last fall and we had the opportunity to talk. So very sorry to learn of his death.

I volunteer at Blind Services Assn. and always looked forward to chatting with Jerry while waiting for my client. He was an interesting man and a solid baseball fan and I will miss him.
