Mr. Rom Was the best teacher I ever had. Freshmen Year (2000) I came to Kennedy HS and i was scared but my first class was English 1 and Mr. Rom was my teacher . Mr. Rom helped me in alot of ways he did not just teach English , he also helped me in alot of other subjects in my sophmore year I did not have him for class but , whenever I needed help he always was there to help me out . he always gave u his time. this year was my junior year
I also had Mr. Rom for English 3 it was a great year untill the end . he always was there if I or any one needed help in anything, if it wasn't for Mr. Rom then I would of been lost. I will always remember the saying he had to me and Dave quote "YOU BETTER DO THE WORK , OR I WILL FAIL YOU " I will miss that ,and I admit that I drove Mr. Rom nuts sometimes but I really will miss him. as will every one else .

Well, what can I possibly say. I never had the opportunity to enjoy any of Mr. Rom's English classes. Every student and teachers that knew him, could only tell me how great this teacher was and will always be to all. I'm sure everyone he spoked to will always have him in their heart because he deserves it and they are all very thankful for giving them a little of everything that he knew. I know that he has now gone to a better life.....we'll all miss you!

Mr.Rom, although I only had you for one week in freshmen year, and my schedule was changed, I already knew from the first time I saw you, you were a teacher that no student will ever forget. I knew from the first time I saw you that you mean more than just a teacher for students. Although you're not with us anymore, it is not a loss. Instead of us losing a person we all love, we also gained. We gained another guardian angel. We will miss you, Mr.Rom!

"CLOSE TO YOU"
Why do birds suddenly appear
Every time you are near
Just like me
They long to be
Close to you
Why do stars fall down from the sky
Every time you walk by
Just like me
They long to be
Close to you
On the day that you were born
The angels got together and
Decided to create a dream come true
So they sprinkled moondust in your hair
And golden starlight in your eyes of blue
That is why all the girls in town
Follow you all around
Just like me
They long to be
Close to you
That is why all the girls in town
Follow you all around
Just like me
They long to be
Close to you
Just like me
Close to you
They want to be
Close to you
Just like me
Close to you
Just like me
Close to you

I never had Mr. Rom ad a teacher, but I heard everyday how great he was. I wish I would have had the chance to know him better. Whenever I did see him in the hallway, he always smiled and said hi, even though he didn't know me. He will greatly be missed.

Mr. Rom was by far my favorite teacher of all my 17 years here. I won't let his memory fade.. I truly miss you Mr. Rom.. there wasn't a time when you wouldn't stop to talk to me.. you were the only to ever care about what was going on in my life and how I think. god saw you getting weary,
he did what he thought best;
he put his arms around you
and said "come and rest"
he opened up his golden gates
on that heart breaking day
and with his arms around you
you gently slipped away.
it broke our hearts to loose you
you did not go alone;
a part of us went with you
the day god called you home.

To the Rom family,
My name is Jennafer Kemph. I met you and your son at the wake. Mr. Rom was my 6th period english teacher. I looked forward to going to his class everyday. I loved having him as my english teacher. I put a poem in the book of love that I hope was given to you already. Mr. Rom helped me write poetry which I am thankful for. He helped me and touched my life in so many ways. I am sorry for your loss. But remember this, he touched alot of peoples and students lives. He was a great man. We all loved him and will miss him. But he will never be forgotten.

Dear Mrs. Rom:
A friend of ours saw your husband's notice in the paper last night. We were 7th grade students of Jerome's at St. Helena of the Cross in 1964. We are getting together today to celebrate a grade school graduation of one of our children and will raise a toast to your husband today.
We all remember him fondly and have talked about him over the years. He was our first "male" teacher and we were excited to finally have a "lay" perspective of life. He is remembered for his kindness and gentle ways with kids at a horrible age. Please accept our sincerest sympathies on your loss and know that after 39 years he is still in all of our hearts.

Mr. Rom was my English teacher at Little Flower High School. He was fantastic. He gave me a love of English. He also has the distinction of being the only teacher at LFHS who paddled me. Of course, I deserved it. I am saddened at your loss and will keep "Mr. Rom" in my prayers.

Dear Judith, Michael, and Amanda,
I join with the many people who wish to express their heart felt sorrow at the sudden loss of your husband, father, and friend. I knew Jerry to be the kind of man who could sympathize and emphathize with you. He could joke with you or have a very serious discussion. He was a good friend and he'll be missed by all of us. He loved teaching and those he taught respected him and loved him in return. May God be with you especially now as I'm sure that Jerry is with God.
