Jeffery Finn Obituary

Finn, Jeffery "Jeffro" Age 58, of Homewood, IL born April 5th 1952 departed this life on March 12th 2011 in Lake Placid, FL surrounded by family. Jeffro, a career plumber, grew up in Oak Forest, Il, and was a devoted father and son, loving husband, loyal brother, fond uncle, and caring grandfather. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed playing cards, fish frys, telling stories, (sometimes he was just finnin' you though), and the sunny winters in Florida. Survived by mother Virginia Finn; wife Patricia Finn; brother Charles (Gayle) Finn Jr.; sister-in-law Tricia Finn; three beloved children Shawn (Lisa) Finn, Bridgette (Kevin) Mitcheff, Kelly (Matthew) Cimino; step-children, Aubry Costas, Wendy (George) Schnapp & Koren (David) Alliston; and 15 grandchildren Devin, Brandon, Conner, Ellie, Alec, Zachariah, Isabella, Madison, Paul Jacob, Emily, Xander, Katrina, April, Marie, and Jared. He was preceded in death by his father Charles Finn Sr; brother Barry Finn; stepson Nobel Erler, and grandson Joseph J Cimino. Per Jeffery's wishes he was cremated and no public service will be held. Jeffro lives on in the hearts and cherished memories of all who knew him and will be deeply missed, as he would say, "you betcha red rider." In lieu of flowers a donation to the American Heart Association would be greatly appreciated.

With Christmas coming, I'm thinking of Jeff. It's still hard to believe he's gone. He was so kind and funny, he could make anyone laugh. I remember the stories he'd tell, most of them were true:). I know how much he loved you all. My prayers are with you as I'm sure this will be a difficult Christmas without him. But what memories he's left!

To the Finn Family,
Jeff will always hold a special place in our hearts. Whenever he was around you knew there would be laughter and te-heeeing going on. We were blessed to have known him and we sure will miss him. Love Always, the Spratley's.

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

When Barry was ill, Dad quoted this to me, "God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference."

You could go your entire life and not meet another man that had the character of Dad. He had more friends than we could count. He could tell an excellent story, could be onery and stubborn, and he rarely every had a bad word so say about anyone.

We'll miss his boat trips, his backyard barbeques, and his goffy grin when he was finnin' you.

We will miss him and were very happy that he was able to spend his last few months in the beautiful weather of Flordia, with his loving wife and his brother so close.

Dad had more friends than we could count. Most people go through life not rocking the boat, dad liked to shake the hell out of it. He was a character and you can go throughout a lifetime and never, never meet another man like him.
