Jean Knights Obituary

Jean "Jane" Fottrell Knights Jane was born in San Francisco, CA, on February 16, 1926, and died in Tucson, AZ, on January 22, 2007. Preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Jean Knights; her sister Sheila Knights; and her nephew and godson, Charles Knights Miller. She is survived by her sister, Mary Knights Miller and her husband Charles P. Miller of Tucson; her niece, Catherine Brei, her husband Scott and their children, Kirsten, Parker and Keeley of Dallas, TX; and her nephew, Christopher Miller and his daughter Brigid of Los Angeles. She is also survived by cousins in the U.S., Ireland and England. Jane lived her entire life in San Francisco but moved to Tucson in 2001 to be close to her sister. She graduated from the Convent of the Sacred Heart (Broadway), from Lone Mountain College in San Francisco and received an M.A. in English from Stanford University. She taught English and French at Broadway for 40 years. She was a published poet and an accomplished seamstress. She loved to entertain and to travel. She was kind, generous and compassionate and will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends for her quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. Her sister and family wish to thank the caregivers at Via Elegante in Tucson for their loving care of Jane during her last years, and also wish to thank Dee Lytle from St. Odilias church who brought her communion every week. Friends may visit Monday after 4:00 PM and are invited to attend a Vigil at 7 PM at the McAvoy O'Hara Co. Evergreen Mortuary, 4545 Geary Blvd at Tenth Ave, San Francisco. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 AM Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at St. Dominic Church, 2390 Bush St., SF. Interment will follow in the family plot at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Dominic Church, 2390 Bush St, SF, CA, or to Helpers of the Mentally Retarded, 2626 Fulton St., SF, CA. McAvoy O'Hara Company 415-668-0077
