I have many fond memories of working with Jay at the Fayetteville Observer and marveled at his dedication to detail and his nose for finding great business features. I will never forget his love of all things Duke. Peace to you, Jay, and farewell.

Jay, I will miss receiving your letters. Even though you signed them "Toby Tuna," I always knew they'd come from you. You were a good friend and an admirable journalist.
Peace,
Josh Shaffer
