Janice Motte Obituary

Janice Wells Motte came into this world on December 18, 1955. She left it on Saturday, March 16, 2013. She was born in Birmingham, Alabama, and attended Corner High School. In 1974, the same year of her graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, Jacky Motte. They later had four children, with Jan (as she was called) settling into her career as a housewife.

Jan is remembered as a kind, sweet woman who always looked for the best in everyone. She never had a mean word to say, and her strong Christian outlook was reflected in that same attitude. She was a wonderful wife and mother who just simply radiated warmth and comfort. At the same time, she pushed her children to succeed and helped them along their paths in life. Not only was she a great mother, but she was also a great friend and companion whose smile and laughter lit up the room. She will be remembered by her family and friends as a woman who hated dressing up but loved red roses and the TV show Friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Wilma Wells, and her brother, Jimmy Wells. She is survived by her husband, Jacky, their children Jason (Pamela), Jonathan (Carey), Jessica (Cody), and Janna, and their grandchildren Abbie, Natalie, Keegan, Koltan, and Kentan; and a sister, Susan Wells. There will be an opportunity for visitation from 5 o'clock to 8 o'clock on Tuesday, March 19, at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, and a private memorial service will be held at a later time for close family and friends.

Jan was a wonderful person who was very kind to me and my family. My son is a good friend of her daughter, Jana, and she treated him and us very well. She went out of her way to make you feel good, and it meant a lot to me. My thoughts and prayers are with Jana and Jacky during this difficult time. Connie Bowers

Offering my deepest condolences during this difficult time....Ps 46:1, "God is for us a refuge and strength. A help that is readily found in times of distress." May you find comfort by drawing close to God and may the love of family and friends along with God's word the Bible strengthen you.
