Janice Freeman Obituary

Freeman, Janice Meadows 85, made her transition on September 22, 2011. Beloved wife of 59 years to Dr. Eldridge T. Freeman Jr.; loving mother of Joyce Freeman and Eldridge III; sister of Joyce Meadows; and cherished grandmother. She was pre-deceased by a sister, Jessie Thelma Reede. She began her 45-year career as a social worker at the Illinois Department of Human Services and served as acting regional director. She graduated from Howard University and earned a master's degree from Northeastern State University. She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Inc., The Windy City Links, The Chums, The Charmettes and a former member of the Women's Auxiliary of LaRabida Hospital. Janice was an accomplished bridge player, and a member of several bridge clubs. Visitation on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 10:30 a.m., St. Dorothy Catholic Parish, 450 E. 78th St. Memorial service at 11 a.m. at St. Dorothy.
