James Ziebell Obituary

Ziebell, James LeRoy (Jim) Age 77, born in Chicago, Illinois on May 24, 1935, joined his beloved wife, Rose, in heaven on August 19, 2012. Loving father to his children, Robin (Rick) Ruffino, Jim Ziebell, and Barry (Dena), Ziebell, referred to as "Pops" by his step-children, Jane (Stephan) Borowski, Terry (Carla) Borowski, Ed (Cathy) Harte, and Sandy Harte. Grandpa to Anthony, Travis, Kaitlyn, Averi, Sarah, Matthew, Amanda, Kevin, and Carly; Great-Grandpa to Jackson, Cooper, and Midori. He graduated from Lane Tech High School in 1953, served our Country in the Armed Forces Army Division, and acquired an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts from Mayfair College in 1975. He worked many years for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad, and in later years for Koppers Roofing and Allied Roofing Companies as a commercial salesman. His younger day passions were playing lineball and bowling, and later years traveling with his wife, playing cards with friends, and trips to the casino. Best known for his jovial and quick-wit personality, he was the life of every social event and family gathering. He also was a devoted fan to his Chicago Cubs, butter pecan ice-cream, Fannie Mae Turtles, and Tootsie Pops. The family would like to thank Dr. Philip Branshaw for his compassion during Dad's care, nurses and patient techs of Delnor, and Mercy Hospitals, McAuley Manor, and the Provena Hospice Team for their care and kindness-you are the angels of our mortal world. A special thank you to Heritage Woods of Batavia for providing more than assisted living, and to Ed and Cathy Harte for opening their home to comfort Dad in his final journey of life. For those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association-Midwest Chapter (for respite care), 1800 N. Main St., # 215, Wheaton, Illinois 60187. Visitation Wednesday 3-9pm at the Brady-Gill Funeral Home (Heeney-Laughlin Directors) 2929 W. 87th St. Evergreen Park. Chapel Service on Thursday at 10:30am. Interment St. Casimir Cemetery. My life long friend will be deeply missed. We were friends when we were young and renewed friendships as we got older. At times I wish we could turn back time. However, memories can span time. When I am feeling sad because you will be missed I will remember how lucky we were to have a friend as special as you. Our thoughts and prayers are with those you have left behind.

We had the good fortune of working with Jim at the C&NW in the 50s and 60s. He, along with his pals always managed to come up with some mischief, all in good fun. Thanks for the memories. JIMBO.

Robin, My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family for the loss of your Dad. Seems we've had more than our share of loved ones lost the past few years but as you know, there's a better place and peace abides with them now. You were there for me at the loss of my parents, just wish I could have had the chance to meet yours but thru your stories through the years, I feel I know them. Your Pops will be looking down on his Cubbies and Rose will be pulling for her Sox! Peace and Love be with you and yours.

From an old high school friend of Jim's, we spent a lot of time together bowling and shooting pool. Jim was always the life of the party, and I'm sure his family will miss him greatly.
