Bro, you fought a long, hard, brave battle and no one knows better than I. You are a true inspiration to me and those who understood your struggles. You proved time and again that there is always hope and that nothing is impossible. You were a good friend to many and loved by all.
I love you and I'll miss you.

Jamie and Jimmy, I am so sorry about your dad. You will all be in my prayers. When I think of your dad I remember how nice he always was to me, and how he used to sit with my little brother Kevin at our sporting events. The two of them made quite a pair. May your dad rest in peace.

I am a retired Illinois State Policeman who work in the same section with Jim, most times side by side. I also feel your lost, he was very helpful to me. We learned to ride motorcycles together in Springfield so that we could teach motorcycle safety. We worked out of state too. I am truely sorry for your lost.

Jim was one of the best people to work with, always concerned about his co-workers families, just a great guy.

As many of you may know, Jim and Vince began their friendship in 1960 at St. Mel's High School. Our friendship continued through the years. Diane came on the scene in 1965 - and we also became friends. Jim was our best man at our wedding on November 4, 1967. He was the godfather of our oldest son - born in 1971. Jim lived with us for a time after he graduated from the police academy, as he needed to live "in district". He fed our first dog potato chips, much to my dismay! During the past few years, it was painful to see our friend have so many medical problems. So, our friendship of decades ends. We only learned of Jim's passing late last night. Due to the distance involved, we were unable to travel to the services with such little notice. However, Jim's family is in our prayers today - and we pray for Jim's soul to God, our Creator.

Jamie, Jimmy and the rest of the Vargas clan, my thoughts and prayers are with you in this difficult time. I'll never forget when your dad showed up at a birthday party at Erica's and started "ski" dancing. It was priceless.

To my dear friend, Jim. I hope you have found peace and no pain now. You have taught me as well as others what it's like to fight a battle. My Jim will miss your antics with him at Jewel. Take care my friend. You're always loved. I will miss you dearly.
