James Tracy Obituary

Tracy, James

James J. Tracy, 76, of Chicago, IL, passed away the morning of June 15th, 2021 after a short battle with Cancer. He was the beloved husband and best friend of Terri Tracy and cherished brother of Ronald J. Tracy. He was the dearest father of James Tracy (Lisa) and Kim Tracy (Bill Vosatka) and loving grandfather of James and Grant Tracy. He was preceded in death by his mother Peggy and his father John. He was the dearest cousin, uncle, nephew and friend of way too many to mention.

Jim attended St. Bartholowmew Grade School where he had "fond" memories of the Nuns and went on to Lane Technical High School where he learned to love fast cars and motorcycles. Jim spent over 40 years in the plumbing business and was the owner of Tracy Plumbing and partner with his brother, Ron, at R&J Plumbing. Countless homeowners along the Noth Shore of Chicago can thank him for decades of trouble free sewer and water.

Jim loved music and introduced his children and grandchildren to dozens of great artists like The Beatles, Neil Diamond and Jimmy Buffet, but he will be remembered most for his love of Elvis Presley. Jim and Terri attended Elvis' last concert in Chicago in May of 1977. Jim shared a condominium with Ron in Marco Island, FL and spent as many months as possible each year there where he enjoyed the pool, beach, shuffleboard, eating out at great restaurants and the company of many more friends who will miss him.

We will all remember him for his kind spirit, beautiful smile, contagious laugh, endless generosity and profound dedication to his Catholic Faith. At his request, there will be no formal wake or funeral at this time, But a "Celebration of His Life" will be announced at a later date.

Jim had a quiet confident style . He was Jim, a very good man. He could, without a word, being said , say he was your friend. Beginning In the dark of the morning , with Terri at his side, he had things to do and places to go. Shuffleboard, working out, pool time , all before breakfast. We are so sorry to have lost a good friend. Our condolences to Terri, members of the Tracy family and to friends he loved. Like you, we miss him.
