Jim, as the anniversary of your passing nears I was talking about you with some of the guys that we worked with and it was agreed upon by all that you were by far one of the most genuine men that we ever worked with and that on any down day you could brighten it up. A lot of people miss you. See you down the road someday.

Dear Tracy and Kelly,
I was looking for an obituary of someone else when I saw this. I am so sorry for the loss of your Dad. I know how much he loved you girls. My husband (the late) Jim Meyer worked with your Dad when he was a patrolman and was studying for the Sgt. exam. My Jim had a real sense of people and their personalities and always said what a "true" friend Jimmy was. My prayers to you girls these two Jims were so proud of their daughters!

Jim, I remember fondly all the times "in the alley" between Carmen and Winona when we were growing up. We had a lot of fun back in the day. I moved from Chicago back in 1978, and although I may not have been a physical presence in the neighborhood in all those years, I remember quite vividly everyone who was there.
Take care, my friend, on your new journey.
Much love to Donna and Frankie,
Sincerely, Bob Lang

Jimmy, the past two days have certainly been such a wonderful tribute to the person that you are. I wasnt surprised at all to hear all the wonderful stories from your friends and coworkers over the years. Jimmy, there was so much love filling your visitation and in church today you would have been so proud. Your girls and those beautiful grandkids were so gracious and loving.I have so many wonderful memories that will sustain me for the years to come but there will never be a day that will go by that I will not hear that laugh and the stories and advice that you would always give. You were one of the smartest men I ever met. Thank you for teaching me the love of music and holidays. We went through some of the toughest and the best of times. We lost our parents and spouses, we baptized each others children and you were always there. My fondest childhood memory will always be your holding my hand and walking me to school in the morning. So I found it only fitting and such an honor to be holding your hand when you left this world.I promise to always be there for Frankie and the girls, as I know that was a concern of yours. God blessed us with wonderful parents and with Frank he is an angel and loved you so. I will always love you and keep you in my heart and because I can not say goodbye I will just say " See ya kiddo!" Your loving sister Donna

I may not have seen Dad in a while, but I can still hear his cheery, "Hi ya, doll" like it was yesterday. I will always remember him for his loving heart-he treated all the girls like we were his own, his overwhelming generosity-there wasn't a thing he wouldn't do for anyone, and his kid at heart personality-I mean come on, would Halloween ever really be the same without those crazy decorations inside and out!?!
Dad will be missed by many but he is at peace now, with Mom, watching over all of you, so proud and smiling!
All my love.

Jim, it was wonderful growing up with you in the Chicago of the 50s and 60s. There were kids everywhere, especially on your block. One great memory is the day when you, my brother Ray, and I rode out to Fox River Grove on our fat-tire bikes with just one gear. 100 miles! We might have been 12 or 13 at the time, so it was a real adventure.

Thanks for all you have done since then to keep us in touch. And for your role on the St. Ita grade school 50th Reunion. You and Connie are special people and we will treasure the memories of time together.

Jim, you were a great partner, and a true friend. It was an honor to work with you at the old Townhall (019)you were a great police officer. Glad I got to see you at the old 19th District photo shoot. We had a lot of good times when you and Connie were dating, hanging out at "T's" or Bryn Mawr and Clark. You will be missed by everyone. May the Lord give you a well deserved "Honorable Mention" as you pass through the Golden Gates. Kudos to a great guy, and a great street cop. May God bless you and your family.
