To the entire Simulis family: Judy, Mark, Todd, Chuck, Larry, Betty & Mrs Simulis (Deloris). I'm sorry I haven't written before but from the moment Judy told me the news, I haven't regained my composure. Jim was one of only 5 BEST friends I ever had. When I first met Jim, I was in the seventh grade,a bond was formed that has lasted these 41 years and will last my lifetime ! Jim will always be remembered by me as an intelligent, funny, fun loving person. My sincere condolences to all of you in losing your loved one. In losing Jim I have now lost a brother.
Rest In Peace, my friend

Dear Judy, Mark, Todd and all The Simulis Family
Words cannot convey the sorrow felt by the loss of Jim.
Jim was a great person and a wonderful friend. He was the first one who really welcomed me into “Hi League” at Douglas Park. Jim was also the advocate the kept Junior Hi League going at least 3 more years and gave tirelessly of himself to try to set a great example to those kids, even though it was sometimes quite frustrating and difficult. Jim was there every Friday night as a counselor giving of his own time, money, and energy because he believed that they should have a chance to see something positive in their lives. He could have easily been out having a good time somewhere else, but he chose to spend his time at Douglas Park.
As years went by, and many of us moved to distant parts, Jim was always available to lend and ear and offer advice. I will miss his wry humor and sarcastic quips. I wish to extend my most heart felt sympathy to all of the Simulis family at your great loss. I know Jim is somewhere continuing to watch over all of his family and friends.

Ms. Delores Simulis, Betty, Larry and Chuckie,
My deepest sympathy goes out to all of you. It's been many years since I babysat for the "Simulis kids", but I remember all of you. May the sadness you feel today be overcome by the kindness, prayers and expressions of condolences of others in the days ahead.

Dear Betty,
My sister, Peggy, forwarded Jim's obituary to me, so I wanted to write to express my deepest sympathy to you on the loss of your brother. It has been years since our days at St. Ludmilla, but I still remember you and think of you. My thoughts and prayers are with you, your brother's wife and children today. He will be missed, but he will be with you always.

Dear Judy, Mark and Todd,
To add to my parents' message: the most distinct memory I have of Jim was when my family visited yours when I was about four or five years old. Just before we set out to drive back home to Chicago, my parents told me that I was going to stay with your family an extra week and then fly home by myself. They apparently expected me to be excited at the prospect of flying on an airplane but, instead, I was terrified.
That fear is probably why I can still visualize driving into the airport with Jim that next week. He calmed my nerves and told me how neat it would be to get to look down on so many people from up above. I’m sure he is now looking down upon each of you, marveling at the view.
Love, Sean

Dear Judy and family,
Jim was such a profound friend and colleague in ministry at D.P. His innovation of the "Back Page" on the bulletin gave him the chance to express himself and to grow each week. Both of you are greatly missed and now I will never have the chance to see Jim again this side of Eternal Life. If you ever drive through "Flyover Country" in Oklahoma, please come and stay with us for a while. Dale and Sherron

Jim filled all of our lives with laughter during his days in Chicago with my brother Emilio. His Hand wrestinlgs with my Dad will never be forgotten. Let Jim tell it ...my dad cheated. We were truly blessed in knowing him.

Dear Judy, Mark and Todd,
Words cannot express the deep sadness that we feel and the sympathy that we send to you in your loss. I had been thinking recently of our friendship in the seemingly long ago 1970s and early 1980s at Douglas Park Covenant church in Chicago, of Jim's and my comedy routines for talent shows, and of all the memories we shared, particularly including weddings and the births of our two oldest sons and of Mark when you were still living in Chicago, and later, your visit to DC and our trip to Boston.
I can only imagine that St. Peter is delighted to have one more, very aggressive greeter at the pearly gates, cracking (bad) jokes and welcoming people to heaven! There was only one Jim, and may God richly bless his memory and embrace all of you and also Jim's mother and siblings in His comfort and everlasting love.
With our love,
Barbara, Brian, Sean, Craig and Alex Marvin

Years ago when I was in Middle School, I was always excited when I saw that my teacher was absent and Mr. Simulis was teaching my class. I hope that he is able to "chill with his homies" in heaven now.

My prayers go to Jim's family,
I have only known Jim for the last 2 years as we have both worked for Liberty Tax Service but it seems like I have known him for a lifetime.
He always made you laugh!
