James Sheahan Obituary

Sheahan, James S. 83, of Libertyville, IL, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, May 13, 2007. Devoted to his family, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia on September 21, 2006 and is survived by Timothy Sheahan of Libertyville, IL; Nancy (Bob) Goerne of Edina, MN; and Barbara Klesman of Orland Park, IL; grandchildren: Michael, Katie and Kevin Goerne; Alison and Jennifer Klesman. Jim's friendship, sense of humor and generosity touched many people throughout his life. He never failed to open his home to friends or new acquaintances. He was born on July 2, 1923 in Chicago. He attended Senn High School, served in the U.S. Army as a medical technician, and was a 1947 graduate of Northwestern University's School of Business Administration and member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. For over forty years he was President and owner of Universal Deliveries, Inc., a Chicago based cartage company. He was active in the transportation industry and served as President of the Illinois Trucking Association. Upon retirement he acted as a consultant for transportation firms in the Far East residing in Hong Kong during this time. He was a winter resident of Green Valley, Arizona for the past 20 years where he was a member of the Elks Club and active volunteer for the Lions Club and Titan Missile Center. Jim enjoyed world travel, loved cars, taking pictures and forging new friendships. Strong in his faith and Irish heritage he was a member and former liturgist at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Libertyville and Our Lady of the Valley, Green Valley. He was a life long supporter of the Lambs Farm and The Association for the Multiple Impaired Blind in Brick, New Jersey. The family would like to offer special gratitude and heartfelt thanks to Toni Gest, Lashawnda Davis, DeAnna Banks, Patty Davis and Allways Caring for the care they provided him and Virginia and to Karin Michalski for her support and friendship to them. Visitation 10 a.m., Friday, June 1st, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 121 E Maple Avenue, Libertyville. Memorial Mass at 11 a.m., followed by lunch at Mickey Finn's, 412 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Libertyville. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Lambs Farm, 14245 W. Rockland Road, Libertyville, IL 60048. Private interment at Queen of Heaven, Hillside, IL.
