I had to chance to know him and spend a week with Murray family in 1988. He has been a great host, guide and a friend to me. Every time I had to choose between Scotch, Bourbon and Whiskey I remembered him... for 22 years! He was a very fine man. He sure will be missed and will always have his very special place in my best memories. See you again, Jim...

While I'm saddened at the news of Jim's passing, I'm grateful for the opportunity to have worked with him during my tenure at the City of Evanston. He was at times an adversary, others a cheerleader, but always a professional, and ultimately a friend. He is and will be missed by many, including me. My best wishes to his close friends and family.

I am so sorry to learn of Jim's passing!
He was a good friend and a real gentleman. A real help when we were at the City of Evanston and later after we both left the City.
My condolences to his family on their loss.

Jim has been a good friend to me, but especially to Dan. Jim and Dan's twin daughters shared the same birthday. He was loved by so many and will be terribly missed. May God bring you comfort.

The Murray Family,
Jim was a God-send and I could not have asked for a more compassionate and attentive gentleman and lawyer. Indeed, he will be missed very much but I shall continue to value his person-hood, integrity, spirit and professionalism!
Peace be with you!

I was the building secretary of the building where his office was located in Evanston and my best friend worked for him as his secretary. I remember he always had a smile, always said hello and would chit chat for a bit. He was and will always be who I think of whenever the word "class" is mentioned.

Sharon, Kristen, Kara and Griff,
We are so sorry to hear about Jim's passing. Even though we haven't seen him in a long time we have very fond memories of him. No one could have asked for a better employer or a friend. The help and guidance that he gave Donnie and me during the early years of our marriage and the purchase of our home will never be forgotten. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers at this time and have our deepest sympathy.

Sharon, Kristen, Kara, and Griffin,
I was so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. Even though I hadn't seen him in many years, he made an indelible impression on me, both as a basketball coach and father to a dear friend, and I will always think of him fondly. Please know that you are in my thoughts at this time, and you have my deep sympathy.

I am very sad to hear about Jim's passing. I will always remember him as my basketball coach in 4th grade. The patience and care that he showed to all us squealing girls was wonderful.
My thought and prayers are with you.

Jim's sister, Donna, married my uncle roughly ten years ago and through the honor of having Donna now in our family, we were also lucky enough to have met her family. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Murray family during this difficult time.

Working with Jim has been my pleasure, and knowing him as a friend is one of the greatest honors of my life. Jim was a wonderful, caring person, a truly diligent attorney, and a tireless advocate for his clients. While always keeping an eye on ethics, morals, positive outcomes, and public decency, Jim consistently proceeded with his client’s interests being his primary concern. He was always a wise counselor to his clients, a guide to me, and one of the finest people I have known. I will miss him.

When I worked as an assistant attorney to Jim in Evanston City Hall days, I remember his multi-tasking, his pride in his family, his fun coaching his daughters' sports team. I watched his reputation grow when he went in to private practice.
I'm sorry I did not know of his illness; he left this world too soon.

I have such fond memories of Jim from my time at the City of Evanston. When i first started with the City in 1976 in the planning dept to my various roles of interim City Manager Jim was always a great source of wisdom and humor. Judy Aiello (Chicago)
