Uncle Jim Mez was my dad, Angelo's best friend and best man at my parents' wedding. He was always around to help our family negotiate a trip to Greece or plan a big fundraising event. I really like the link put here of the 12 min video of his life and even saw some pics of my dad who died over 9 years ago. I have very fond memories of Jim.

Our deepest sympathy to all who have been touched by the hard work and wonderful gestures that Mr. Mezilson had participated in over many years. The many hours that he worked on the Hellenic Museum displayed his passion for our ethnicity and love for our Greek history and culture.
From the inception of the Greek Museum Mr. Mezilson contacted me because he felt my father (Sam Stavrakas) was one of the first Greek entrepreneur's and he wanted some of his legacy to be long remembered in the museum. I am certain that Mr. Mezilson reached out to many individuals so that our museum would be ONE OF THE BEST.
We are very sorry for your loss and our deepest sympathies to all of his family.

James M. Mezilson was a warrior who fought all his life to preserve the history of his parents and all those of Hellenic decent who came to this country for a better life for themselves and their descendents. His battle was won with the building of the National Hellenic Museum.
Now it is up to those descendents to preserve the museum.
Well done Jim, may you rest in peace.

Dear Mr. Mezilson,

Thank you so much for having the vision and foresight to help establish the National Hellenic Museum. I am pesonally grateful for the opportunity you have given me to serve this wonderful institution. I also know that Americans of Greek origin all over the country are also grateful, and so will future generations, who will visit this monument to the history of our people and our community and learn about themselves. I am so glad you were able to visit the Museum only a few weeks ago and take one last good look at what you helped build.
Good bless you, Mr. Mezilson.
