Dear Meyer family,

I am the youngest of the Uhlar family that grew up across the street from "Jimmy". He was always the "adult" and was always so sweet to the little girl across the street. I remember when you were married and what a wonderful match the two of you were.

Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers as you mourn the loss of such a gem of a man.

Dear Mrs. Meyer ('Mom' Meyer), Jennifer, Jacki, & Jill (and family),
I cannot begin to express the sadness that I felt the moment I heard the news. All of you (including 'Dad' Meyer) have taken me in as another daughter/sister for almost 15 years. Your family is truly one of the best families that I know, so loving, helpful, genuine, and of course, fun! On this day of sorrow, I think about all the good times that I have had with your family, there were many, but one that was ever so memorable was on the morning of Jennifer's wedding (to Anthony, of course). 'Dad' Meyer was preparing for the big day when daddy jitters began to settle in. I was honored to be a bridesmaid in his eldest daughter's wedding! As the struggle went on between him and his tuxedo shirt, I stepped in to try and lend a helping hand. From that day forward whenever a shirt struggle commenced, 'Dad' Meyer always called out, "Where is Lil to help me with this darn shirt!" But it was not only the thought of a helping hand; it was the thought that I became another part of his wonderful family! He took me in, into an amazing family! A family of extremely strong values and so much love that would continue on for an eternity! 'Dad' Meyer is not gone; he is just not suffering any longer. He is at peace now in his new resting place. He is joined by many others that are greatly missed whom are all watching over us now! His strong spirit resides and will always reside in the women that he loved so much. The memories and stories will always live on; these will be so precious especially to each of his grandchildren (and grandchildren to be)! From my family to yours, we send you our deepest condolences, but also encourage you to celebrate a legacy that your husband/father has left upon so many lives that he touched. All Our Love!
Liliana, Andy & Daniel

To Sherry and family....

So shocked and saddened to hear about Jim.

Grief is perhaps the most difficult of human emotions to face. It is the cost of having loved. If we had not cared, we would not grieve.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

To the world's greatest family. We are so saddened at the loss of such a great guy! If we could only give you all a hug and help you bear your pain, like you did for us we'd be there in an instant, but as you probably know of my recent surgery, I'm completely homebound We love you and we are praying for your strength to help you cope.

Dear Mrs. Meyer, Jenny, Jackie, Jill and family,

I was so sorry to read about your loss in the paper. Although we have lost contact over the years your father was always such a nice man. One of my fondest memories was a Halloween party you had and he was sitting on the front porch in costume. . . scaring the wits out of all who attended.
My (and my parents) thoughts and prayers are with you.

Our deepest condolences,

Laura (Dahms) Gallo

Dear Meyer Family,

I am so very sorry to hear of Jim's passing. As a new police officer in the 019th District, he was very good to me.

I worked with him on days for a few years and used to bake for the watch. When I went to work afternoons, he made me promise to continue to bring baked goods on the days that I had court, which I gladly did. His smile will be greatly missed.

May your memories of Jim bring you comfort at this sad time.

Dear Sherry, Jennifer, Jacki, Jill and your families,
We listened to our answering machine and both stared unbelieving at each other. We saw Jim grow up from a boy, through all his schooling, attended the celebrations with Izzy & Fred and then the great joy of attending the wedding of Jim and Sherry. Knowing full well what a lovely girl he had chosen. We remember seeing all you "little" girls as you were born and growing but then we left for our retirement years in California.
We are SO surprised and sorry to hear of Jim's passing. Please accept our sincerest sypathy. He'll remain "the little boy across the street on Thorndale" in many of our memories.
Our love, prayers and thoughts,
Jeanne and Bob Uhlar

Dear Sherry, Jennifer, Jacki, Jill and family:

I am so sorry to hear about Jim. He was such a good husband, father and grandpa. I wish I would have had been closer with him in the later years. I always enjoyed his company and that dry sense of humor. I am truly sorry to hear this news and wish I could be there for you. I know how loved he was by his family and I'm sure his loss will be quite difficult for all of you. I am truly saddened by the loss of my friend. Sincerely, Terry Thedford

We were each other's first best friend. I could not imagine growing up without Jim. Very little "coming of age" was done without each other's company. We shared our dreams. I believe with Sherry, the girls and the Grandchildren, he achieved his.

Good travels old friend.
