March 18, 2010

From Lisa Schmadeke ( Jim's college buddy). Mindy, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I was at a St Patrick's Day party and ran into an SAE that knew that Jim and I dated in college. He asked if I had heard about Jim, and of course I said "No". I spoke to Jim last spring, and was to visit him, yet your family was going back and forth to Florida... so we did not get together. I cannot believe he is gone. He will be missed. My prayers go out for you and the boys.

Mindy,

I'm so sorry for your loss. I have the greatest memories of Jim as a devoted husband and father. It sounds trite I guess, but with Jim, it was so evident. I remember when we left that concert so many years ago and the very first thing Jim did was get on the phone to check on the kids. I can remember the loving tone in his voice and the fact that they were on his mind even on his "night out" -- it made a big impression on me. I'm sad that I live so far away and missed out on these many years of being closer to you and your family. My thoughts are with you, the kids and the many friends and family members whose life was enriched by knowing Jim. All my love, Debbie

Mindy, Max and Jonathan,
Almost a year and a half ago, when my son, Zach had a major health challenge & coming out of the post-anesthesia ICU, you and Jimmy (my cousin) couldn't do enough or say enough to help me understand his condition. In that moment, I thanked him and Mindy, but thank you is not enough, for he instilled in me an inspiration that things will be OK, and to look on the bright side. He insisted on my son calling him, but unfortunately, my son was too ill at the time. Jimmy's optimism, his character, faith, and his sense of love & devotion for his family (and theirs to him) are keeping his memory alive for us all. Please accept our sweet thoughts and prayers.

I'm thinking of you all the time and wishing that Jim was back in his office yelling out to me to pick-up 40. I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to work with him these last 7 years. He was the greatest and the coolest and the best. He is the original superstar and I will miss him forever. Jim hardly let a day go by without telling me he appreciated me or forcing me to eat his leftover desert. He was truly the most wonderful boss. Please know that I am here to help in any way that I can.

Aunt Mindy, Max, and JJ
There is no one else in this world who can compare to Uncle Jimmy. He was always so compassionate, warm, loving, friendly, and welcoming. He always had a smile on his face and was always so optimistic and fun to be around. I will never forget the countless passover dinners and get togethers between our two families and how much he contributed to those moments. My thoughts, prayers, and heart will always be with you and the rest of your family.

Mindy, Max and Jonathon,
Please accept my deepest sympathies on your loss. I knew Jim professionally, and his energy, humor and enthusiasm were inspirational. My family, as well, knows the sorrow of loosing members too soon. After the darkness, comes the light. Hold close to everything that you love, remembering when you can that everything lovely in your lives is your creation. You are creating more beauty and more love right now.
My prayers and deepest regards are with each of you,

i'm stunned. Jim was such an inspiration. This is beyond wrong. As Billy Joel said "only the good die young". Irv and Jim built the greatest small law firm, I worked with both when still a young law clerk and attorney. Jim's brillance was joined with a heart, and a sense of humor that all who got to know him never forgot. Jim, Irv, Lou and Jim M were a bedrock of support when I lost my significant other. My heart breaks for Mindy, his children, his mom, and all the extended Jacobson's family. We all were better because of Jim Jacobson

Dear Mrs. Jacobson: I'm an employee of Gloria Block. I was preparing to eat my lunch one day in the office suite's kitchen, when I encountered Jim preparing his lunch and I asked him what he was making. He told me "this is what my wonderful wife prepared for me and I just spread it on the bread." We exchanged stories about our lunch that day and I'll never forget what a wonderful and "great listener" your husband was. It was a pleasure meeting him that day and I'll miss sharing our lunch menus. May he rest in our Lord's peace. Peace to you and your family.

Mindy, Max and JJ and the rest of the Jacobson family
Words cannot express how saddened we are at Jimmy's passing. I will always think of him with that twinkle in his eye and his patient way with a meal. He was a great friend, husband and father. No one enjoyed life more and no one worked harder to make sure all those around him did the same. He had a beautiful soul that will never be forgotten. Our deepest condolences on this loss and our heartfelt prayers that you will all find solace in how much he was loved and admired by so many. He gave of his time gladly to organizations and to people but never more than to his family. We are privileged and honored to have called him friend for all too short a time. No once could be sad when they were with Jimmy which was one of his many, many gifts. He will always be with us, running just a little bit late but happy to see us when he arrived. We love you all and want you to know you are always in our thoughts and hearts, just as Jimmy is and always will be.
Love, Randie, Lou and Rachel Bruno

Dear Mindy, JJ and Max,

I am devastated that Jim has left us. He was, without a doubt, the most unique individual I have ever been privileged to know. I feel honored to have worked with him for thirteen years - learning from him everyday. He was a man of great substance, drive and discipline. He never felt sorry for himself or complained. He was most certainly instrumental in shaping me into who I am today, not only as an employee, but also simply as a human being. He was ALWAYS there for me; such a great friend.

I wish peace and comfort for you right now. Hold tight to the memories you created together and embrace the blessing that such a beautiful man was your husband and father.

Love,
Alice

Mindy, Max and Jonathan,
I just heard and am so sad. However I count myself as having been blessed to have had Jim as my friend. Whether it was with the guys, looking at his enormously complex call sheets or talking business-I always felt he was genuine and kind and above all a man of superlative moral character. You and your extended family are in my prayers each day. All who have known him have truly been enriched. May the days ease your pain and may the future grow to be one which Jim has helped in some way to make better for each of you.

Our deepest condolences for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of sorrow. We hope that your memories of such a wonderful, loving and compassionate human being bring you comfort. He lived life to the fullest, and impacted the lives of so many people with such an unrelenting positive attitude. We were blessed that Jim included us, along with so many others, in his "family". While Jim was taken too soon, Jim knew how to squeeze the most out of everyday. It is almost as if he knew he had to accelerate his schedule and work harder. Luckily for us he knew how to do the most good he could in the little time he had. May Jim's memory be a blessing.
