To the Jack Family. Our deepest condolences. We only found out yesterday about the passing of "coach" as we fondly called him. Our daughter Katharine is her Peace be with you partner at church, because we told her that from the time that she was born Coach made sure to come by us and say hi to her every time we see each other at church, for 7 years. So it was her turn to see him. He was the only person that my daughter would cross the aisle just to get to him and shake his hand.
Our prayers are with you Coach and the rest of the family. We will truly miss you as we will remember you as our friend across the aisle.
May you rest in peace.

Dear Jack family: So many memories flashed back when I saw Jimmy's obit. I first met him when I was a 19 yr old stenographer at Area 5 Homicide in 1961. I was in such awe of these detectives and the work they did. Jimmy took the time and I learned so much from him. He even hired me to work at the polygraph office on Western Ave. where I learned more. I ultimately became a Chicago Police Detective and was fortunately assigned to the same Area 5 Homicide. I ran into him again when he worked at Toys R Us. The memories are many and good. My condolences to your family.

Jimmy was a friend, an honorable man, and a dear person. I got to know him very well by helping him write his pending memoir about the Family Secrets mobster trial, including stories of his youth and the police force and other mobsters from his days as a Chicago Homicide detective. The world is a better place with people like Jimmy. He will be missed by many.

I am so sorry for your loss. I read about it today in the paper. I only met Mr. Jack once but he made quite an impression. I was sitting next to him on the Metra a couple of years ago as he was coming home from a day at the Family Secrets trial. The stories he told me on that short trip were fascinating. It's the only time I've ever been disappointed to get off the train at the end of a workday.
