December 30, 2007

To my family and Jim's friends:
This has by far been the hardest year of my life. This year I lost my best friend, my protector, my cousin. For others it was their son, grandson, nephew, and friend. There have been questions of why and answers unknown. But I think about Jim everyday. Everything from our childhood, our late night phone conversations, us kicking the crap out of each other for fun, and the two of us always being there for each other through the best and worst times. For awhile there I didn't know how I could ever deal with the loss of Jim, but then I look at how much the people in his life cared about him and how much they have all been there for me. Terri, you have been my rock. Though you have pain of your own, you still have the time to listen to me cry, yell, and grieve. We have all suffered a great loss, but together Jim's memory will live on. I love all of you for helping me deal with this- my family, Jim's friends, and my friends. And to my cousin Jim, I love you and miss you sooo much. Happy 28th Birthday. -Ginny

To my best friend and partner in crime, I miss you most today. This is the day that you always had a smile, a stupid joke, many text messages, and a big hug. Today is the day that you would let nothing go wrong. Today I remember all the good times, all the laughs, the pranks, the texts, the late night poker games, the phone calls, and MOST OF ALL YOU. I love you always.
Love with all my heart Shay Burns

In Our Hearts
We thought of you with love today.
But that is nothing new.
We thought about you yesterday.
And days before that too.
We think of you in silence.
We often speak your name.
Now all we have is memories.
And your picture in a frame.
Your memory is our keepsake.
With which we'll never part.
God has you in his keeping.
We have you in our heart.

His Journey's
Just Begun
Don't think of him as gone away.
his journey's just begun
life holds so many facets-
this earth is only one
Just think of him as resting
from the sorrows and the tears
in a place of warmth and comfort
where there are no days and years
think how he must be wishing
that we could know today
how nothing but our sadness
can really pass away.
And think of him as living
in the hearts of those he touched.
for nothing loved is ever lost
and he was loved so much!!!

Funeral Service Prayer at Graveside

TOGETHERNESS
Death is nothing at all - I have only slipped away into the next room. Whatever we were to each other, that we still are. Call me by my old familiar name, speak to me in the easy way which you always used to. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be the household word it always was. Let it be spoken without effort. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same that it ever was; there is absolutely unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of your mind because I am out of your sight? I am but waiting for you, for an interval somewhere very near, just around the corner. All is well. Nothing is past; nothing is lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before-only better, infinitely happier and forever. We will be all one together with Christ.

A FISHERMAN'S PRAYER

God grant that I may fish
Until my dying day
And when it comes to my last cast
I then most humbly pray
When in the Lord's soft landing net
I'm peacefully asleep,
That in His mercy I be judged
As good enough to keep.

Terri, John and Family,
No words can express how my life was impacted just by knowing Jim. Going to Uncle John and Laura's helped me see how truly loved Jim was and still is. All his friends came together to do what he loved the most - FISH!! All of us lost a great friend, one that will be forever missed, but never forgotten. I can't wait until next year in Wisconsin to keep Jim's passion and love alive. Especially with his family and friends there.
I Love You and Miss You Jim!!
