Like most of us, our private thoughts are sent to his family but I have to say that this was a man of unusual kindness and integrity. I will remember him always with a smile. Pat Jameson Woods

Jim was quite a guy, and I'm so glad that I had a chance to meet him and spend some time with him, Helen, back in the day. You and your family are in my thoughts now.

Dr. Gearian was the faculty advisor for Chi Chapter of Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity during my time at the University of Illinois College of Pharmacy. The smell of his pipe and his low voice were a calming influence and a voice of reason in our meetings.

All of us from Chi Chapter send you our sympathy.

Dr. Gearien taught senior Med Chem to the class of 1982 at the U of I College of Pharmacy and I was fortunate to be in that class. He brought together everything we had learned in a wide variety of chem and bio courses in our previous years at the CoP in 10 short weeks. It is easy for me to say that his was the best chem class I ever had - I still have my notes and his handouts after all these years.

I'm sure that I echo the sentiments of my classmates in saying that he will be missed. My deepest condolences to his family.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

Anne, have thought about you many times and wanted to try and contact you. I know this is not the most appropriate time, but hopefully you will respond. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
