James Finley Obituary

James A. "Jimmy" Finley ABBEVILLE -- James A. "Jimmy" Finley, 73, of Abbeville, died Thursday, October 9, 2014 at the Hospice House in Greenwood. He was born in Abbeville to Dorothy Sharpton Finley Harmon and the late Paul A. Finley. Mr. Finley was twice married, first to the late Donna Gail McCurry Finley and for 13 years to Juanita Wilson Finley of the home. He served in the S.C. National Guard and was a lifelong member of Warrenton Presbyterian Church. Mr. Finley retired from Little River Electric after 45 years of dedicated service. He was a 1959 graduate of Abbeville High School and a member of the Clinton Masonic Lodge No. 3. Mr. Finley was an avid coon hunter and enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends. In addition to his father and first wife, he was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Donald Mundy; a nephew, Paul L. Speer; and stepfather, Walter R. Harmon. Surviving Mr. Finley are his wife Juanita of the home; his mother, Dot of Due West; a son, Reggie Finley (Amy); a daughter, Carmen Roberts (Jeff) all of Abbeville; two stepdaughters, Debbie Bowie (Allan) and Dianne Baker, all of Abbeville; two sisters, Carol F. Speer (Ben) and Karen F. Nicholson (Clyde), all of Abbeville; five grandchildren, Kayla, Jacob, Brantly, Daniel and Beth (Jason); four great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 4 p.m. on Sunday in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. The families are at their respective homes. Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Finley may be sent to the HospiceCare of the Piedmont, 408 W.
