Irwin was one of my very close friends at Englewood High School. As someone noted earlier, he was a very fine and gentle man. In 1954, he enlisted the help of his Uncle Max to help me end the flood of communist propaganda that was being mailed to my home during those very frightening McCarthy Hearings. I owe Uncle Max a huge debt of gratitude for ending those mailings through his work with the Anti-Defamation League of Binai Brith (sic). Although I know none of the living Korngoots, my wife and I did enjoy eating dinner with Irwin and Phyllis in the Homewood home a couple years ago. Lastly, I sent Irwin a postcard from Brazil two weeks ago in which I said I was looking forward to seeing him in October, I didn't know he had passed away at the time. May this fine man go to a greater place. With love, Joe Barrett

Ricky and Judy:

There are no words to express how I feel about Irv. We have been close for more than fifty years. I would have gone to the service but I wanted to remember Irv alive and vibrant. Claudia and my love and prayers go out to you and your children. We still light a candle for your mom. Now it will be two.

To all who knew this Gentle Man.

We go back to the college years with our friend "Korny" and worked in theatre projects together....was there when he started dating his Phyliss...informed when his Mom and Dad passed and the children and grandchildren were born.....He was all CLASS and I am sure Phyliss welcomed him with open arms. No man ever dies as long a there is one who remembers him...therefore our friend "Korny" will never die.

Me and my whole family will truly miss Irv. We have known him as he became an accountant for all of us, over 30 years ago now.He was a close friend to our family too.We watched our families grow up together by photographs.(My children used to pick up paperclips from around his office and he would get such a kick out of that)and we just reminisced about that in February.Mom made him a miniature office that he enjoyed, besides the ceramic statue of an accountant that I misspelled his last name on. Yes,he still wouldn't let me live that one down, 20+ years later. He was a very sweet man. We will miss him.

On behalf of the Englewood High School Alumni, we extend our most sincere condolences to Irwin's family. He was someone we counted on during past reunions and he will be sorely missed this October at the 50th.

May you find peace knowing that he is in the arms of the Master Weaver.

I was saddened to learn last evening of Irwin's passing yesterday and relieved that his long suffering had ended. He was a kind and decent man with an exceptional sense of humor. He was invariably more than hospitable to me, my father, and our family whenever I saw him at family events for so many years. My heartfelt condolences to Judy, Eric, Beth and their families. May they take solace and have confidence that he is together again in peace with Phyllis and Susan.
