Irene Stopka Obituary

I was so sorry to hear of Mrs. Stopka's passing. I was in her class at St. Felicitas Grammer School in the 1960's. One thing I remember about her was her sense of humor, which she often tried to hide while keeping a classroom full of 6th graders on the right track. I tell my children stories of what it was like to grow up in a Catholic Parish like Felicitas .. one big family, .. and, or course the schoolroom and teachers figure prominently.

Mrs. Stopka will certainly be missed!

Irene Menarek Stopka used her college education as a profession to teach and excite students to a love of learning. For her college, Mundelein College Chicago she served on the alumnae board of directors to preserve the traditions and standards for the generations to benefit from the unique mission to wholly educate Catholic Women. Irene was the best===focussed, practical, generous, hardworking. Irene gave to those of us after her faith and hope and love that made our studies relevant to life in Chicago, a challenge to give more to students and a pleasure to share the treasure of an action=filled education. Bless her!

DEAR BITSY...MY BROTHER EDDY DIED ON DEC. 26 , 2003 ....I WONDER WHO WAS MORE SURPRISED EDDY OR 'MRS. STOPKA' TO SEE EACH OTHER AT THE PEARLY GATES ? To the family--I'm so sorry we missed hearing about this earlier. My Mom was in Arizona with Silvia for the holidays. Your mom was a great teacher and a wonderful friend to all of us. My sincere condolences on behalf of the entire Stenquist family.

Mrs. Stopka was a postive influence on the lives of many young people at St. Felicitas in the 1960s. I was fortunate to have been one of them. She will always be remembered.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of my good friend and colleague Irene. I will always remember sharing ourclose friendship and she will always have a special place in my heart.

Our sincerest condolences on the loss of "Aunt Irene". She and my Mom (Theo) were friends for over 60 years and Aunt Irene and Uncle John were responsible for introducing my parents to each other, for which I am forever grateful.
