Irene Mokrzycki Obituary

Mokrzycki, Irene L. (nee Pasierb) Died peacefully on Sunday, June 22, 2014. She was 91. Irene was born January 4, 1923 in Chicago, and married John Mokrzycki in 1943. She worked for Derby Foods Peter Pan Peanut Butter for 36 years. She was a wonderful homemaker with wide interests and talents in cooking, sewing, needlework, gardening, travel, reading, music, singing and more. Irene loved living in Chicago and enjoyed many visits to the Art Institute, museums, festivals, and the Chicago Public Library. She celebrated her Polish heritage, especially its food and recipes and was a great fan of Public Television Station WTTW. Irene was truly grateful for everything in her life, from her family to her faith. She supported charities and agencies serving those in need, the arts and health. Irene moved to California in 2010 and took great pleasure in seeing the Pacific Ocean. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents, Louise (nee Swierzcek) and John Pasierb; her sister, Lillian; and her brothers, Frank, John and Adolph, all of Cook County. She is survived by daughters, Judy Schweitzer (Jeff) and Karen Mokrzycki (Eric Baker); granddaughter, Jill Schweitzer; step-granddaughter, Zoey Schroeder (Jeff) and their children Eva and Simon; and by her brother, Edward M. Pasierb of Lemont; and nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Thursday, July 3rd from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Queen of Martyrs Church (103rd and Central Park; Evergreen Park.) Interment: Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Catholic Charities and to Chicago's cultural institutions and public television which she so enjoyed. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Andrew J. McGann & Son Funeral Home 773-783-7700.
