Irene Kramer Obituary

Kramer, Irene M. (nee Galos) 88, formerly of Eola, passed away peacefully Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014 at McAuley Manor in Aurora, IL. She was born August 26, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois. Irene was a 1943 graduate of Sacred Heart Academy in Lisle, IL. She was employed at St. Luke's Hospital in Chicago from 1947-1949, training as an X-Ray technician. Irene moved to the Aurora area in 1953, and was employed at Copley Memorial Hospital from 1953-1990. She married Clarence J. Kramer in 1968 at St. Irene Catholic Church in Warrenville, IL. Irene was 52 years old when she graduated from College of DuPage. She loved the outdoors, and her activities included swimming, gardening, cross-country skiing, camping, hiking, fishing, boating, cycling and water-color painting. Irene was a charter member of the Fox Valley Snow Drifters Ski Club and the American Youth Hostel Chicago Branch for Hiking and Cycling. She was a member of the Actors Guild, the Dominic Club and the Ladies of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. She was an active member of the Y.W.C.A. Social Club since her retirement, and was named Woman of the Year at St. Therese Church in 2011, where she also served as an Eucharist Minister, lector and volunteered at the St. Therese Dominican Literary Center. Survivors include her son, Steven (Peggy) Kramer of Lake-in-the-Hills; two daughters, Karen Michels of Yorkville and Mary Sue Kramer of Warrenville; nine grandchildren, Dawn (Howie Kaye) Luna, Keith Kramer, Steven (Jaime) Kramer, Victoria (Andrew) Anderson, Ginger (Stephen Behling) Michels, Edward (Rachel) Michels, Peter Michels, Andrew Turner and Alexandria Kramer; eight great-grandchildren, Jonathan "Danny" Luna, Kyle Kramer, Aurora Garcia-Kramer, Axl Anderson, Seff Anderson, Harrison Michels-Behling, Avery Michels and Zack Michels; her nephews, Robert (Therese) Peters of Sugar Grove and Tom Peters of North Aurora; and her niece, Mary Ann Peters of Evanston, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence J. Kramer in 2003; her parents, George S. and Irene J. (Companik) Galos; her sister, Mary Jeanne Peters; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 30, 2014 from THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY at 9:30 a.m. to St. Therese Church at 10:00 a.m. Fr. Michael Miller, M.S.C. will officiate with interment in Marywood Cemetery.
