Ida Aspegren Obituary

Aspegren, Ida Marie memorial service for Ida Marie Aspegren (nee Beaston) 95, of Mundelein is 11:00 AM Thursday at the Long Grove Community Church, 1110 Robert Parker Coffin Rd. in Long Grove. She was born September 1, 1914 in Carthage, SD and passed away Sunday, January 3, at home peacefully with her loving family and her faithful cat, Squirt, by her side. She will be remembered for her loving and caring way and the wonderful long life she led. Ida graduated from Northwestern University with a bachelors of science degree in 1935. She married Adolph K. Kaufmann in 1940 who was killed in WWII in 1944. In 1950 she married Oliver Aspegren, Jr. She taught math at the Evanston junior high, was the Math department head at Roycemore Girls School and taught at the Evanston Recreation Department during the summers. She was on the board at Park Ridge School for Girls, a member of the Kendall College Auxiliary, National College of Education Auxiliary, Evanston Woman's Club, American Legion Auxiliary, American Association of University Women, League of Women Voters, Northwestern University Alumni Association. She was a longtime resident of Evanston before moving to Mundelein in 1975. Ida is survived by her son, Adolph Herbert "Bill" (Christie) Aspegren, daughter, Mary Nell Aspegren, grandchildren, Christopher Aspegren, Ryan and David Adams, Lorraine (Tristan) Gabriel, great-grandchildren, Kate and Julia Gabriel. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Adolph Kaufmann and Oliver Aspegren, Jr., her son, Oliver R. Aspegren III. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Orphans of the Storm P.O.
