Masterson, Hugh of Bannockburn, Stirling, Scotland, beloved husband to Nora (nee Halloran). Dad played many roles in his life: Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle, Lover of life, Teacher, Philosopher, God-fearing man, Friend, Boss. Dad was a Fountain of Wisdom; a great man, a moral compass; a positive thinker and most importantly, a lover of family. Born March 6, 1934, died October 12, 2004, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital at the tender age of 70. Devoted son of the late Hugh and Sarah (nee Sweeney) Masterson, from County Mayo, Ireland. Loving father of Hugh (Susan), Noreen (Michael) Nolan, Mary (Edward) Niewiniski, Joseph, Theresa, Martin (Kelly), Brian (fiancee, Elizabeth), Margaret (Wesley) Kinel, doting granddad to Megan, Sarah, Hugh, Rebecca, Jack, Nathan, Katherine, Brendan, Andrew, Erin, Lauren, Shannon, John, Edward Hugh and Emily, dear brother to the late Annie (the late Thomas) Sheridan of Ireland, the late Kathleen (the late Thomas) Kilbane of Scotland, the late Patrick (Rose) of Scotland, the late Martin (Ann) of Chicago, Mary of Scotland, the late Sarah (the late Patrick) Brassil of Chicago, the late Delia (the late James) Clark of Scotland, Eileen (Gino) D'Arcangelo of Italy and the late Michael of Scotland, loving uncle to over 50 nieces and nephews. Proud retired employee of the Chicago Transit Authority after 32 years of service. Funeral Saturday, 9:30 a.m., from Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, to Saint Monica Church for Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment Maryhill Cemetery. Visitation Friday, 3 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please forward donations to the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University in thanksgiving for the tremendous care, endless support and outstanding dedication from all the Doctors, Nurses and staff who touched Dad's life.
