Howard Spaeth Obituary

Spaeth, Howard William Age 77, passed away peacefully in Chicago on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 after a long battle with heart disease and diabetes. Born May 13, 1938, Howard lived in Chicago throughout his life with fond memories of time spent in Lenox, Massachusetts, Canton, North Carolina, Monroe, New York, Terre Haute, Indiana, and countless hours flying through the blue skies in between. Survivors include his children, Susan Spaeth, Heidi Edwards (Scott), Howard Spaeth Jr. (Carrie), Kathryn Spaeth Zajac (Paul) and Alexander Spaeth (Jaime). Howard was loved by Jane Spaeth, Patricia Spaeth; his sister, Virginia Spaeth and his grandchildren, Steve Kats, Maxwell Bisaillon, Ricka and Sydney Edwards, Christopher and Caroline Zajac, Benjamin and Myles Spaeth, Avery and Amelia Spaeth, and Taylor and Rory Haddock. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Ralph Spaeth and mother, Dr. Erma Jaskulek. Howard will be remembered fondly for his lifelong interest in aviation, robust storytelling about grandiose experiences, his excitement for the sport of racquetball, his love of classical music, his ginormous desire to help others who needed his support, and above all, loving his family. A private ceremony will be held. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
