I only knew Howard in his later years when he and Sarane were my neighbors in Deerfield. During that time, I was impressed with his intelligence, openness and courtesy--qualities the world so needs. His was truly a live well-lived. Sarane and those close to him, my heartfelt sympathy to you in your loss. May your fond memories of Howard sustain you.

Howard was in the highest rank of the good people.
I saw him at a Cardiac dinner in Nov., and we talked about the fact that he was in the paper with the veterans in front of the bank.

Howard touched so many peoples lives in so many ways. I remember the days when I first started working at First Bank of Highland Park. Howard would come in around 10 - 10:30 a.m. and make his rounds saying good morning to everyone as he made his way back to his office. He ALWAYS had a smile on his face. Not too long after his arrival, he was already looking for someone to go to lunch with. Now that I am at the Northbrook office, I did not see Howard often but would meet him for lunch on occasion. I always enjoyed our time together and the stories he would tell. He was a fascinating man and could tell stories about his past as if they happened yesterday. I will miss this incredible man dearly. I think most of us thought this day would never come - Howard was invincible. My deepest condolences to you Sarane and the entire Levy family. Howard will live on in all of us.
