Dear Ann and Bill,

We were so sorry to hear about your mother, Ann. Bill has told us so much about her wonderful life of dedication that touched so many lives. She is, we are sure, a great blessing to all of you.

How wonderful that she touched so many people through a lifetime of sharing, love, and commitment. We know her memory will long be in the world.

Mrs.Lopez was the best person I ever new in Humbolt park. She was always postive and very helpful. She thought about others before herself. Mrs.Lopez will always be remembered in the Humbolt park community and everyone will miss her.Mrs.Lopez is a role model to everyone she knew and she is the best person I ever meet and knew.I will miss her so mcuh and I know that God and the angels are with her right now.My condolense to her family and may God be with you.

Please know that my thoughts are with you during this difficult time. Not only did Helen Ann Lopez serve as a remarkable leader and maternal figure for your family, she extended this role to an entire community. I sit in astonishment and awe of her many community-building and selfless acts and gestures. During a time when our society recognizes service but too often forgets what it actually means, Helen stands as an exemplar of one truly working, tirelessly, for “the common good.” Her legacy will stand forever, and all of Chicago is a better place for her activism as well as for her kindness.

Not only is it a great loss for the Family of Helen Lopez but for all the lives she touched at The James Russell Lowell Elementary School. That is why I named her "Mrs. Lowell." She was Lowell School's top advocate.



On the personal side she certainly left a lasting impression in my life. As a new teacher she embraced me with open arms. She looked out for me. When our Chorus & Band began she became one of them. She was our official photographer and #1 fan. She was at every performance and never missed a beat.

You could always count on Mrs. Lopez. She would never let you down.



It is because of her that I am a better person. She taught me the importance of being involved in my school community.



Not only was Mrs. Lopez good to me but she became a member of my family. Mrs. Lopez was a woman of faith. She was a true servant of the Lord. May she rest in peace.

My Grandma Lopez was the greatest. She was one of the most thoughtful, caring,fun, entertaining and considerate people I have known. She did outstanding work with the community and still had plenty of time to do so much with her family. I loved her dearly and will miss her so much.

My deepest condolences to the family of my beloved friend Helen Lopez.Helen had a heart of gold,she was my angel sent from god. she was a great big part of my family always there for us and my children are forever greatful for the warmth and love that they recevied on her part. Thank you Helen for being my best friend and never hesitating for one second you will be greatly missed and you will never be fogotten we love and may god bless you. Also thanks to Frank and Kathleen for welcoming us into their home.

I remember Helen when my son was attending Lowell back in the 60's. My deepest sympathy to her family in their loss..

We will miss Mrs. Lopez, she was a true friend to our family for more than 35 years. She was never too busy and always listened when speaking with you. She would then give support with her unique world view and ideas.

On behalf of the Metropolitan Chicago Synodical Women's Organization we want to extend our condolensces. We are thankful for Helen's participation in the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and sharing her love and enthusiasm with many. In Helen's time of service on the SWO board, she was a mentor to many, sharing her gifts in the ministry areas for women and children. Thank you to Helen for letting your light shine.

My family shares your lost. We love Helen, she was a part of my family. She shared our celebrations and moments of sadness. I will never have a better friend than her. She took me under her arms when I started work at Lowell and never let go. I Love her for that. I will always miss her.

This is a great summary of her life with a wonderful photo. She absolutely loved doing all of the neighborhood and community stuff and that shows on her face. We will miss her alot and will treasure all of the wonderful memories and many years we got to spend with her. She was an awesome Grandma and Great-Grandma.
